At IOS, we believe scalability is born from a well architected system which insures the delivered application uses fundamental sound and proven scaling solutions. For example, an IOS developed system currently supports one of the busiest public facing web applications maintained by the United States Federal Government. The site scales to millions of users because our software architects understand that there is no silver bullet that insures an application scales, but rather fundamentally understand the client use cases, the user/data interaction with the system and employ multi-threaded, multi-process and distributed technologies where appropriate. We used lightweight restful services,asynchronous event driven clients, non-blocking I/O, avoided lock-contention which resulted in an extremely reliable, scalable and fault-tolerant system.
